What is a good home-made treatment for hair that smells weird? ACV?

Ever since I started dyeing my hair, it has had a strong metallic smell to it. Even when I was it 3 times in a row, it smells putrid. Do you know of any good hair rinses that could get rid of the smell? I heard that apple cider vinegar works. is that true?
