What are some good post-apocalyptic novels?

What i'm REALLY chasing here is a book where the protagonist has to fight with other survivors who are after his gear (water, weapons, bla bla bla) but also has dealings with other survivors that benefits him. I'd kinda prefer it if it was set more in modern times too but hey a good books a good book. Any suggestions would be gnarly
