Private health insurance = cheaper and better care?

Statistics show that US citizens pay almost exactly 2X per capita for health care compared to countries with government-supplied general health care. As with so much of our "Free Economy", once again the main beneficiaries are the wealthy and entitled -- in this case the insurance companies, specialists, and private hospitals. In other words, I think the rest of us are not free at all, but bound by their insider dealings and price gouging. Comments?
